Set in 1944 Italy, the story of four black American soldiers who get trapped in a Tuscan village during WWII. Miracle at St. Anna is a 2008 American–Italian epic war film set primarily in Italy during German-occupied Europe in World War II. Directed by Spike Lee, the film is based on the eponymous 2003 novel by James McBride, who also wrote the screenplay.
